02/18/2007 - Nashville, TN (Sportsbook Betting Lines) - It was Peter Forsberg's first game in a Nashville uniform, but Marian Gaborik scored the game winner for Minnesota to lead the Wild to a 4-1 win over the Predators at Gaylord Entertainment Center.
Forsberg made his first appearance for the Predators after the team acquired him from Philadelphia on Thursday for right wing Scottie Upshall, defenseman Ryan Parent and their first and third round picks in the 2007 draft. Forsberg finished the game with no points and one shot in 19:32 on the ice.
"I wasn't that good today," said Forsberg. "I was just trying to pass it a little too much. Maybe it's just going to take a few games."
Pavol Demitra finished with a goal and an assist and Brian Rolston had two helpers for the Wild, who have won three of their last four.
"I think we're learning to win hockey games," said Rolston. "No question it's taken us a while. Something we're going to have to continue getting better at. Tonight was a good stepping stone.
Niklas Backstrom stopped 25 shots for Minnesota, which played Nashville for the last time this season and won three of four.
J.P. Dumont scored the lone goal while Tomas Vokoun made 18 saves for the Predators, who have dropped three of their last four contests and have posted one goal in their last two games.
With the scored tied, 1-1, in the third period, Minnesota broke the tie on a power-play goal when Demitra sent a backhanded pass from behind the net to the right side where Gaborik tipped the puck into the net for a 2-1 lead with 8:01 to play.
The Wild added some insurance thanks to a penalty shot goal after Pierre-Marc Bouchard was awarded the free shot as he was hauled down on a breakaway by Vitaly Vishnevski. Bouchard skated on net and slid the disc between the pads of Vokoun for a 3-1 lead with 4:48 to go.
An empty-net goal by Branko Radivojevic in the final moments of the game accounted for the final score.
Nashville drew first blood in the game when Dumont's one-timer from the slot found the back of the net 9:38 into the contest.
Minnesota tied the game just 1:20 into the second period. On the power play, Rolston fired a shot from the high slot that Vokoun saved, but Demitra was on the doorstep to bang in the rebound for his 17th goal of the season.
Game Notes
Minnesota plays in St. Louis on Sunday...Nashville hosts Phoenix on Monday...Bouchard has scored goals on both penalty shots he has been awarded...Minnesota went 2-for-4 on the power play while Nashville failed to score on its two chances.

MySportsbook.com favors Bears, Bengals, Chargers and Colts to remain perfect
LAS VEGAS , Sept. 28 - Two big match-ups of undefeated teams have fans salivating at the Week Four schedule in the NFL. The Chicago Bears stifling defense looks to provide a less than hospitable welcome to the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday night in a battle of two 3-0 teams in the NFC conference. In the AFC, the San Diego Chargers (2-0) head to Maryland to face the surprising Baltimore Ravens (3-0) as both try to keep pace atop the conference standings. Betting Lines makers at MySportsbook.com, online sportsbook and casino, have set the Bears as 3.5 point favorites while the Chargers are a 2.5 point bet.
Of the three remaining undefeated teams, only one, New Orleans, enters this week's game as an underdog. Despite an emotional and resounding win over Atlanta on Monday night, the Saints are a 7.5 point underdog against the struggling Carolina Panthers. Indianapolis looks to stay perfect when they face the New York Jets as a 9 point road favorite while the Cincinnati Bengals are a 6 point favorite at home to the New England Patriots.
Six teams enter the week still looking for their first win, with a seventh, Tampa Bay, on a bye week. The prospect of dropping another game would not bode well for a potential playoff run. Since 1990, just three teams -- the 1992 Chargers, 1995 Detroit Lions and 1998 Buffalo Bills -- have overcome losing their first three games of the season to earn a postseason berth. And only the Chargers managed to accomplish the feat after starting 0-4.
